The Middlefield Swiss Cheese Festival was born in 1958 out of a desire to celebrate this proud heritage and promote the growing village. Organized through the combined efforts of local business owners, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department, the festival quickly became a beloved community event. Held every Father’s Day weekend, it drew visitors from across the region for several decades. The celebration featured a lively parade, local food vendors, games, contests, and of course, plenty of cheese. As the years went by, the festival expanded in both size and spirit, becoming one of the most anticipated annual events in the area.

The last Middlefield Swiss Cheese Festival took place in June 1991.
